Strengthening Leadership for Health Equity

We are proud to celebrate the selection of our Public Engagement Award Officer, Marcia Kamanga, to the Global Health Corps (GHC) 2025–2026 Africa Leadership Accelerator cohort. This highly competitive programme brings together 32 emerging public and global health leaders working to advance health equity across Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia.

Over the course of nine months, Marcia will participate in an intensive leadership development journey, gaining critical skills in adaptive leadership, systems thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. The programme also offers tailored mentorship and access to a pan-African network of health professionals committed to driving meaningful, community-centred change.

Marcia’s selection reflects both her individual leadership and MEIRU’s broader commitment to building strong, values-driven leadership within the health research and public engagement space. Her participation in the GHC Accelerator will further strengthen MEIRU’s work at the intersection of research, community engagement, and policy. We congratulate Marcia on this achievement and look forward to the knowledge, networks, and leadership insights she will bring back to MEIRU. Despite the challenges facing global health today, investments in emerging leaders like this signal a hopeful and resilient future for health equity in Africa
