From Evidence to Impact: MEIRU at National Research Dissemination Conferences

MEIRU is proud to have participated in major national research dissemination conferences, showcasing the breadth and impact of our work in partnership with Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), the Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM), and other national and international collaborators.

At the 4th KUHeS Research Dissemination Conference, five MEIRU researchers presented their work through oral and poster presentations. We extend special congratulations to Josephine Gondwe, a PhD student at the University of Exeter and MEIRU collaborator through the NIHR Global Health Programme, who received the Best PhD Poster Presenter Award at the KUHeS Research Dissemination Conference 2025. Her award-winning research provides critical insights into diabetes prevalence in Malawi and supports the development of scalable, data-driven screening tools for Type 2 Diabetes in low-resource settings.

MEIRU also participated in the 1st National Public Health Research Dissemination Conference, held from 29–31 October 2025 at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC). Organised by the Public Health Institute of Malawi – Research Division under the theme “Advancing Public Health Research for Building Resilient and Sustainable Systems,” the conference brought together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers committed to strengthening Malawi’s health systems through evidence and collaboration.

We are proud of our researchers and partners and look forward to continued collaboration that advances evidence-based policy, innovation, and healthier, more resilient communities across Malawi.
